What are You Dreaming About

Recently I was asked to speak at the Baccalaureate service for East Paulding High School. I spoke about dreaming. I don’t mean the kind of dreaming that you do at night. I spoke about those visions or goals that you want to be reality in your life.

What are you dreaming about? Maybe you have put your dream to the side for so long, that you don’t believe it will ever come about. Or maybe you’ve given up on your dream. I hope today that God will resurrect your dream in your heart.

If your dream is ever going to become a reality, then you’re going to have to write it down. I know that sounds simplistic, but it’s the first step in making your dream come true. If you’re reading this blog and you have an unfulfilled dream, and it’s nowhere in sight, I’m betting you don’t have it written down anywhere. Erma Bombeck said “There are people who put their dreams in a little box and say, ‘Yes, I’ve got dreams, of course, I’ve got dreams.’ Then they put the box away and bring it out once in a while to look in it, and yep, they’re still there. These are great dreams, but they never even get out of the box. I believe the number one reason people’s dreams are still in boxes is because they’ve never written their dream down. Great dreams happen only when the dream is transformed into something physical.

Right now, visualize your dream. Now pick it up & lift it above your head. You may be thinking that is impossible because there is nothing to hold onto. You’re absolutely right. It’s just an image in your mind. But, when you write down your dreams, they become tangible. When you print a picture of your dream, it’s not longer just visual. It’s physical. The paper is real, the picture is real, and the pen is real. When you write down your dream, you have moved it to the physical world of reality. A number 2 pencil and a dream can take you anywhere. Write down your dream and watch it become a reality!
