Webster defines the word “discouraged” as: “to deprive of hope or courage to be disheartened; have difficulty to hinder; to be down.”
I don’t know about you but I really don’t need a dictionary to describe the feeling of discouragement to me. I have been there and know the feeling all too well!
Many people are disillusioned, discouraged and are ready to give up on life. No one is immune and the feelings can come in an instant. We are prone to become discouraged – to lose heart and give up.
Did you know that one of the main strategies of the devil is to discourage you? It is a spiritual attack, he wants to make you feel down and frustrated; to make you lose heart. It may be through your marriage, your job; in relationships; in a particular ministry; in your Christian life; finances, health issues; emotional issues; finances…Maybe it’s just that things are just not going as you planned.
Do you ever get weary? Burned out, bummed out? Discouragement causes you to grow weary. You are pulled in different directions and have no energy for anything.. Do you know anyone right now that is just weary? It may be you!
Galatians, chapter 6, verses 9-10 says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
What an incredible promise! Just like a tiny seed in soil produces a crop, God’s grace will guarantee that the smallest seeds of goodness in a humans heart will produce a great harvest.
This is a great promise but it is a promise with a condition. The promise is for those who do not quit. You can’t claim the promise if you quit! You’ve come too far in your life. Don’t quit now – don’t give up. Hang in there, God’s not through with you!
No matter what comes you way; No matter what trial you are facing today; No matter how bad the odds are against you; No matter how discouraged you might be; No matter how dark the storm is…
Don’t give up! You must remind yourself every single day. God’s not finished with you. Your miracle is right around the corner.
Remember the promise – “Don’t grow weary in going good for in due season you shall reap if you don’t lose heart.” Don’t give up!
