The Love of God – Part Two

3. God’s love is unconditional
We are used to conditional love. The world teaches us that if we’re stronger, smarter, more beautiful and more successful, then we might just be acceptable.

We hide our imperfections and our mistakes, hoping others won’t count them against us. And we spend our lives hoping for a love free of strings, uncertainty and compromise- an unconditional and unending love that will allow us to finally breathe deep and feel secure.

People judge – people choose to “decrease” their love for you if you “mess up” – if you make the worst mistake you have ever made…God’s love is a love that knows your past but chooses to love you anyway. It knows our present yet continues to love, knows our future and still blankets us. There is no manipulation, nothing expected in return, no fear, no doubts and no abandonment…just unconditional love.

4. God’s love is giving
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).
This verse tells us that because God’s love for us is so great that along with His mercy (withholding what we truly deserve) and grace (giving what we don’t deserve) that He has provided new life to us through the death of His son.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
Everyone knows this verse and unfortunately, we quote it mechanically – without feeling. He loves you, He loves me and He gave the most precious thing that He could give as a demonstration of that love – His son!
He gives to you every day, every minute and every second, It has become cliché but think of all the blessings in your life.
The air you are breathing, your ability to walk, talk, see, hear; your family, your freedom, salvation!
God’s love is not stingy, it gives over and over and over!

5. God’s love provides peace and comfort
“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).
What do you picture when you hear that phrase?
A mother holding her baby, rocking him gently, snuggling up with Him and allowing that child to feel warm and secure so that he will be quieted down.
God’s love offers warmth, security and peace. The problem is that we run from family member to friend seeking that type of security and peace but in reality, it can only be found in the love of God

Many of us do not experience God’s love because we are not familiar with what His word teaches about it. Educate yourself! God’s love is amazing. When you get that, it will change every aspect of your life.
