We need Gap people.
No, I’m not talking about the American clothing store which is the largest specialty retailer in the Untied States. I am speaking about people who know how to get hold of heaven! People who intercede. People who don’t talk about prayer but people who really pray.
The year was 606 BC. God had raised up the Babylonians as a “rod of correction” in the life of Israel. God’s people started being deported to Babylon.
A young man named Daniel was in the first group of people to be sent and in the second group was a man named Ezekiel. Ezekiel’s name means, “God strengthens.” He was certainly going to need God’s strength during the time that he lived.
In the book of Ezekiel, chapter 22, verse 30, we have one of the saddest verses in the Bible. “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.”
God was looking for someone to stand in the gap, to make up the hedge, to hold up the wall but He could not find anyone.
God is still looking for people to stand in the gap.
We see in the first chapter of Job that God had put a hedge of protection around Job and the devil was not allowed to touch Him.
In Psalms 106, Moses stood in the breach (or gap).
Today this would simply mean that a man or woman could be counted on to pray and grab hold of heaven for their country, families and friends, churches, new believers, etc… It would be that person that you count on to intercede on your behalf.
Could it be the reason there is such a breakdown in our lives, in our families, in our churches, in our country, etc… is that there just isn’t enough people standing in the gap?
Will you join me and be willing to stand in the gap? Praying, pleading and grabbing hold of heaven!
The war is real and it’s raging. We need Gap people.
