I have been called competitive at least once in my life.
Actually I hate to lose and I make everything a competition. I drive my family crazy! I want to know I’m winning.
There are several things needed in winning.
People who win in life have a strong sense of purpose and mission. They know what’s important. They have a clearly defined vision. Winners know who they are, why they are here, and what they are going to do with the only life they have to live.
Their vision encompasses personal integrity and family priorities. Their vision affects and empowers others and allows them to be the best they can be. Winners live out their vision, not just dream about them.
If you’re going to win, you must set clearly defined priorities and focus on what really matters. Winners separate what must be done from what should be done. What is absolutely essential, not just what’s important.
You will never win trying to do everything. One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in my life and in the churches I have pastored is doing many things good, but only a few things great. We must leave the buffet of lots of things and concentrate on the steak.
Stephen Covey said “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” Winning requires getting your priorities straight.”
So today let me ask you…are you winning?
