Irving Berlin said, “Life is 10% what you make it and 90% how you take it.” Now that’s a powerful quote! Many things come our way and have a draining effect on us.
We must learn how to “take” life. We must learn to develop a positive attitude even in the midst of “life” stuff that is not positive. Your attitude, your self-talk will either make you or break you. It will lift you higher or send you into depression.
Let me encourage you today to think positive, to think right, to expect good things, and to really have the mind of Christ (Phil 2:5).
If you permit your attitude to turn sour, you will rob your future of hope and promise, and when you allow that to happen, you will experience the five Ds: Discouragement, Defeat, Doubt, Discontentment and Depression.
We must learn to nurture and cultivate our attitudes. A positive attitude produces positive expectations which create a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you have a lousy attitude and a horrible mindset, then you will think and feel “gloom and doom” and that will become a self-fulfilled prophecy.
There is not much more that is as important to your future as your positive belief in what is possible. Success depends more upon attitude than capacity. Your attitude is a direct link to your emotions.
Change your attitude and you will change the way you feel. Change the way you feel and you will change the outcome. Tim Bland says, “Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working twenty four hours a day, for good or bad. It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force.”
Your bad attitude about your job, money, or your life in general is not only affecting you, but everyone around you as well. Make your mind up today and determine that “this is the day the Lord has made…I will be glad and rejoice in it!”
