Swept Away by Passion

What are you truly passionate about? You know – that one thing that you constantly think about, dream about and find most of your conversations centered around. Passion evokes emotion. There is no such thing as an emotionless passion. Passion is the fuel that drives your life. Do you know anyone that needs some jumper cables hooked to them to get them jump started? You know those people who seem to have no passion for anything at all. It’s what I call “Doris Day theology – Kay Sa Ra Sa Ra,” whatever will be will be. These are the people who go through life just existing, just surviving – they are lifeless. They look dead, act dead, there is no passion in them.
We must live life with passion. Passion creates opportunity; passion doesn’t punch a time clock; passion doesn’t get you to persevere; passion sweeps you away. Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “As life is action and passion. It is required of a man that he should share the passion and action of his time, at the peril of being not to have lived. There are many things in life that will catch your eye. But only a few that will capture your heart. What has captured your heart? What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about a relationship with Jesus Christ. I became a Christian on July 28, 1985 at 22 minutes after 8 in the evening. I have never gotten over that encounter!
I am passionate about a lady named Vickie, my wife. I have never gotten over the first time that I held her hand as we walked around Greenfield Lake in Wilmington, N.C. I remember the feeling that I got back then – I still get that same feeling 28 years later.
I am passionate about my children. Stevie and his wife, Whitney who became my third daughter last August; Jeremiah; Andrew; Kayla; Austin and Kirby. I pray every single day for each of them. I want the best for them and would do anything to help them.
I am passionate about the church. I believe the church is the hope of the world.
I am passionate about transforming the spiritual condition of the world and the landscape of the local church. That is why I started Over the Wall Ministries. Check it out here: Over the Wall
